A borboleta-amarela (ou Phoebis sennae) é uma espécie encontrada em áreas abertas de regiões temperadas – pradarias, parques, jardins, cursos d'água e praias – das Américas. Suas asas são amarelas com manchas e bordas marrons e/ou pretas. As fêmeas tendem a ser menos vibrantes que os machos e ter manchas amarelas com as bordas das asas escuras. A borboleta-amarela tem uma envergadura que vai de 5,5 cm a 7,8 cm. As lagartas da espécie são de um amarelo ou verde forte com uma listra amarela e manchas azuis de cada lado.
