O orangotango (Pongo pygmaeus) é nativo da ilha de Bornéu, chegando também às áreas da Indonésia e da Malásia de Bornéu. São grandes primatas identificáveis pela pelagem vermelha e pele marrom. Os indivíduos mais velhos também têm bolsas grandes e distintas nas bochechas e garganta, usadas para emitir ruídos retumbantes para atrair fêmeas. São animais inteligentíssimos e já foram visto construindo e usando ferramentas na natureza para obter alimento. No entanto, não sabem nadar e sua distribuição é limitada por rios que não conseguem atravessar.
