O pinguim-rei (Aptenodytes patagonicus patagonicus) é uma espécie de ave marinha de grande porte que vive no Oceano Antártico e se reproduz em ilhas subantárticas, inclusive as Falkland e Geórgia do Sul. Pinguins-reis têm penas cinza-escuras nas costas e nadadeiras, penas brancas no peito e no ventre, e uma coloração amarela no pescoço, com a cabeça preta, áreas alaranjadas nas bochechas e faixas da mesma cor ao longo do bico. Alcançando de 70 cm a 1 m de altura, os pinguins-reis pesam em média de 9 a 14 kg, o que faz deles a segunda maior espécie de pinguim, logo atrás do pinguim-imperador.
