마코르염소(Capra falconeri)는 중앙아시아의 큰 염소로, 영어로는 '나선뿔 염소'라는 이름으로 불리기도 합니다. 이들은 몸통이 튼튼한 원통 모양인 다부진 신체를 지녔습니다. 갈라진 발굽을 지녀 가파른 산이나 절벽도 오를 수 있는 동물입니다. 온몸이 두꺼운 털로 덮여 있는데, 수컷은 회갈색, 암컷은 더 밝고 진한 갈색을 띱니다. 등줄기를 따라 검은색 거친 줄무늬가 한 줄 그려져 있고, 다리와 얼굴에는 어두운 반점이 있습니다. 수컷은 목 전체를 따라 길게 늘어진 텁수룩한 수염을 가집니다. 암수 모두 두꺼운 나선형 뿔이 나 있는데, 수컷의 뿔이 훨씬 깁니다. 크기와 몸무게도 수컷 쪽이 우세합니다. 수컷의 키는 어깨 높이에서 0.95~1.15m이며 몸무게는 110kg까지 나가지만, 암컷의 키는 어깨 높이에서 75~90cm이며 몸무게는 약 40kg입니다.
