아프리카표범(Panthera pardus pardus)은 표범의 승명 아종으로, 중앙아프리카와 남아프리카에 서식합니다. 날렵한 몸매와 우아한 머리를 지니고 있습니다. 기본 털색은 노란색에서 짙은 황금색까지 다양하며, 몸 아래, 얼굴, 꼬리 끝으로 갈수록 검은색으로 변하는 촘촘한 반점으로 덮여 있습니다. 배와 다리 안쪽 털은 흰색입니다. 아프리카표범은 양쪽 성별의 외형이 다르며, 수컷이 암컷보다 크고 무겁습니다. 수컷 키는 어깨 높이에서 60~70cm, 몸길이는 66cm의 꼬리를 제외하면 1.52~1.83m, 몸무게는 58~96kg입니다. 암컷 키는 어깨 높이에서 55~65cm, 몸길이는 60cm의 꼬리를 제외하면 1.39~1.67m, 몸무게는 24~37.5kg입니다.
