소말리기린이라고도 하는 그물무늬기린(Giraffa camelopardalis reticulata)은 케냐, 소말리아, 에티오피아의 사바나와 넓은 숲에 사는 기린의 아종입니다. 그물무늬기린은 기린의 모피에 난 흰색 줄무늬로 나뉜 황갈색에서 붉은색의 큰 다각형 점이 있어서 다른 아종과 쉽게 구별할 수 있습니다. 암수 모두 키가 아주 크지만, 수컷이 암컷보다 더 크고 머리의 뿔이 잘 발달되어 있습니다. 암컷의 뿔은 더 작고 가늡니다. 기린은 목이 긴 것으로 유명하며, 그 긴 목을 사용해서 다른 동물에 안 닿는 높이 있는 잎을 따 먹습니다.
