갈색목세발가락나무늘보(Bradypus variegatus)는 중앙아메리카와 남아메리카의 열대 우림에 서식하는 수목 포유류입니다. 연한 회색과 갈색의 털을 지녔고, 팔다리가 길고 가늘며, 팔이 다리보다 길고, 흔적기관으로 남은 짧은 꼬리가 있습니다. 또한 손과 발에 3개의 긴 발톱을 갖추고 있는데, 앞발에 있는 발톱이 다른 발톱에 비해 훨씬 기다랍니다. 갈색목세발가락나무늘보는 둥그런 머리와 눈에 잘 띄지 않는 귀, 그리고 눈에서 시작해 머리 옆까지 이어지는 어두운 갈색의 무늬가 특징입니다. 암수의 차이는 거의 없지만, 수컷은 등에 뚜렷한 패턴의 무늬가 있습니다. 갈색목세발가락나무늘보의 길이는 평균 60cm이며, 몸무게는 3.5~5.2kg입니다.
