중앙아시아와 동남아시아에서 자생하는 인도코끼리(Elephas maximus indicus)는 아시아코끼리라고도 불리며, 얼굴 주위의 분홍색 반점과 회색 피부, 작은 귀, 독특한 코를 지니고 있습니다. 크기는 아프리카코끼리보다 작아서 수컷은 키가 평균 2.40m고 몸무게가 2400kg이며, 암컷은 키는 평균 2.75m고, 몸무게가 4000kg입니다. 그들은 대형 초식 동물로 숲과 초원, 산을 포함한 다양한 환경에 살면서 나뭇잎과 나무 껍질, 풀을 먹습니다.
