자이언트타이거육지달팽이(Achatina achatina)는 특히 시에라리온, 라이베리아, 코트디부아르, 가나, 나이지리아 등 서아프리카의 삼림 지대에서 서식하는 거대한 복족류입니다. 이들의 몸은 회색이며 노란색이나 주황색, 황갈색의 원뿔형 껍질에 검은색 줄무늬가 있습니다. 이 독특한 패턴 덕분에 이러한 이름이 붙여졌습니다. 이 종은 암컷과 수컷 생식기 모두를 가진 자웅 동체이므로 따로 '수컷'과 '암컷'을 구분하지 않습니다. 하지만 크기가 작거나 성장을 다 마치지 않은 개체는 종종 생식기가 발달하지 않은 경우 '수컷'으로 부릅니다.
