동부갈색뱀(Pseudonaja textilis)은 호주와 뉴기니에 서식하는 독이 있는 파충류입니다. 그들은 건조한 지역에 사는 걸 좋아하므로 초원과 관목 지대, 나무가 듬성듬성 난 숲에서 발견됩니다. 동부갈색뱀은 연한 갈색에서 짙은 갈색을 띠며, 배는 좀 더 연한 색을 띠는 경우가 많습니다. 또한 위장을 위해 비늘에 약간 더 짙은 갈색의 반점이 있을 수 있습니다. 동부갈색뱀은 보통 몸길이가 1.5에서 2m 사이이며, 자신을 지킬 때 머리와 몸의 많은 부분을 꼿꼿이 세우고, 몸을 S자 모양으로 감으며, 입을 벌리는 자세를 취하는 것으로 유명합니다. 이 몸짓은 공격하려는 자세로 오해받곤 합니다.
