에뮤(Dromaius novaehollandiae)는 날지 못하는 새 중 세계에서 두 번째로 크기가 큰 동물로 타조 다음가는 덩치를 자랑하며, 사바나와 호주의 삼림 지대에 서식합니다. 에뮤의 목은 파란색 빛을 띄며 길고 털이 없습니다. 목 아래 중간 부분부터는 덥수룩한 갈색 깃털이 자리 잡고 있으며, 회색의 긴 다리와 세 개의 커다란 발가락을 가지고 있습니다. 에뮤의 부리는 회색이고 눈은 주황색이며 머리 위에는 숱이 많은 깃털이 자라납니다. 수컷과 암컷의 외형은 비슷하지만, 보통 암컷이 수컷보다 덩치가 크고 무겁습니다. 수컷 에뮤의 키는 1.5~1.8m이며, 길이는 1.39~1.57m, 몸무게는 30~55kg입니다. 암컷은 키가 1.6~1.9m에 달하며, 길이는 1.5~1.64m, 몸무게는 35~60kg입니다.
