대왕판다(Ailuropoda melanoleuca)는 중국 중부 산맥에서 자생하는 곰입니다. 그들은 검은색과 흰색이 섞인 독특한 털을 지녀서 다리와 귀, 눈 주위가 검은색입니다. 판다는 대나무 말고는 거의 아무것도 안 먹으며, 그 결과 빽빽한 대나무 숲이 없으면 생존하기가 어렵습니다. 그리고 대나무는 열량이 적은 음식이라서 판다는 필요한 열량을 섭취하기 위해 깨어 있는 시간 대부분을 먹이를 찾고, 먹이를 먹는 데 보내야 합니다. 그리고 열량을 많이 섭취하지 못하는 탓에 아주 작고 약한 새끼를 낳게 됩니다.
