흰꼬리누(Connochaetes gnou)는 남아프리카에 서식하는 큰 유제류로, 놀랐을 때 '누' 소리로 울어서 이렇게 불리게 되었습니다. 이 종은 어두운 갈색 털과 L자형 뿔을 지녔으며, 수컷은 암컷보다 털색이 더 어둡고 몸집이 큽니다. 암수 모두 두껍고 덤불 같은 갈기와 말 꼬리를 닮은 긴 꼬리를 지녔습니다. 몸길이는 1.7~2.2m이며, 키는 어깨 높이에서 1.06~1.21m이고, 몸무게는 120~193kg입니다.
