아프리카물소(Syncerus caffer caffer)는 사하라 이남 아프리카 전역에 서식하고 있으며, 아프리카 야생에서 발견되는 솟과 중 가장 개체 수가 많습니다. 길이는 보통 1.7~3.4m이고 키는 1.0~1.7m입니다. 각각은 이마 중심의 널따랗고 굽이진 '장식'인 독특한 뿔로 식별할 수 있습니다. 종종 지배적인 수컷이 가장 큰 뿔을 가지기도 합니다.
