이집트과일박쥐(Rousettus aegyptiacus)는 사하라 이남 아프리카와 이집트, 아라비아반도의 열대 우림과 낙엽 삼림 지대, 관목 지대에 서식하는 큰박쥐류입니다. 이집트과일박쥐는 노란색이나 주황색 또는 갈색의 털로 뒤덮여 있으며, 커다란 검회색 날개와 분홍빛을 띠는 손가락을 지니고 있습니다. 또한, 끝이 뭉툭한 기다란 코와 크고 둥그런 눈, 커다랗고 뾰족한 귀가 특징입니다. 평균적으로 이집트과일박쥐의 몸길이는 15cm이며, 날개의 길이는 약 60cm입니다. 몸무게는 80~170g가량인데, 대개 수컷이 암컷보다 덩치가 약간 크고 무겁습니다.
