줄무늬스컹크(Mephitis mephitis)는 북아메리카 전역과 캐나다 남부, 멕시코 북부에서 찾아볼 수 있는 소형 포유류입니다. 땅딸막하고 다리는 짧지만, 다부진 몸과 덥수룩한 꼬리를 지니고 있습니다. 또한, 좁은 얼굴과 뾰족한 코, 작고 둥그런 귀가 특징입니다. 줄무늬스컹크는 검은색과 흰색의 두텁고 거친 털로 뒤덮여 있으며, 줄무늬라는 수식어에 걸맞게 등에서 꼬리로 이어지는 두 줄의 검은색과 하얀색 털이 독특한 무늬를 이루고 있습니다. 수컷 스컹크의 몸길이는 38~46cm이며 꼬리는 33~41cm이고, 몸무게는 2~5.5kg입니다. 이보다 약간 작은 암컷은 머리부터 몸통까지의 길이가 34~41cm이며 꼬리는 30~37cm, 몸무게는 1.8~4.9kg입니다.
