대서양 회색물범은 대서양(영국, 아일랜드, 아이슬란드, 노르웨이, 덴마크, 프랑스, 네덜란드, 벨기에, 독일, 스웨덴, 핀란드, 에스토니아, 라트비아, 리투아니아, 폴란드, 러시아, 캐나다, 미국)의 광활한 육지 인근에 서식하는 해양 포유류의 한 종입니다. 서대서양 회색물범은 동대서양 회색물범보다 덩치가 훨씬 큰 특징을 가지고 있습니다. 수컷의 몸길이는 2.3m에서 2.9m이며, 체중은 205-370kg에 육박하지만 암컷은 몸길이 1.9m에서 2.3m, 체중 160-250kg 정도입니다.
