ソマリアキリンとも呼ばれるアミメキリン (Giraffa camelopardalis reticulata) は、ケニア、ソマリア、エチオピアのサバンナや疎林に生息する亜種である。アミメキリンには、白い線で区切られた茶褐色の大きな多角形模様があり、他の亜種と見分けることができる。オス、メスともに非常に背が高いが、メスよりもオスのほうがかなり背が高く、頭に骨質の角が発達している。メスの角は小さく細い。キリンは首が長いことで有名だが、他の動物の届かないところにある葉を食べるためである。
