イボイノシシ (Phacochoerus africanus) はサハラ以南のアフリカの様々な環境下に生息している。現在は絶滅危惧種ではないが、干ばつに弱く、また人間にとっては害獣と見なされることが多いため狩猟の被害にも遭いやすい。その理由は 2 つあり、第 1 に、イボイノシシは家畜に疫病を広める可能性があるためである。第 2 に、農地の作物を牙でかき回して枯らせてしまう恐れがあるからだ。そのため、部分的にイボイノシシが絶滅しているスポットがいくつか存在する。
