チーター (Acinonyx jubatus) は、中央および南アフリカのサバンナや乾燥した森林地帯に生息する。スリムな身体、分厚い胸部、細い脚と尻尾、そして顔の黒い「ティア・マーク」が特徴である。もちろん、最も特徴的なブチ模様は言うまでもない。チーターは陸上最速の動物として有名で、獲物を追うときの最高速度は時速 70 マイルにも到達する。獲物になるのは通常、ガゼルやインパラなどの中型哺乳類である。
