Le panda roux (Ailurus fulgens) est un petit mammifère qui vit dans les forêts de l'Himalaya et de nombreuses régions de Chine. Malgré son nom, il n'est pas génétiquement proche du panda géant. Cependant, il partage avec lui quelques caractéristiques, notamment un régime alimentaire principalement constitué de bambou. Avec sa fourrure rousse, ses pattes noires, sa queue annelée, ses oreilles et son museau blancs, le panda roux mesure en moyenne entre 50 et 64 cm de la tête à la racine de la queue. Celle-ci mesure quant à elle de 28 à 59 cm. C'est un excellent grimpeur et un bon nageur qui aime vivre dans un environnement varié.
