La blatte rhinocéros (Macropanesthia rhinoceros) est un gros insecte de la brousse et des forêts sèches du nord de l'Australie. Dotée d'une couleur brun-rouge, elle mesure environ 8 cm et pèse 30 g. Elle a pour habitude de creuser des terriers dans la terre sablonneuse, parfois jusqu'à 1 m de profondeur. Cette blatte est un animal domestique très populaire du fait de la simplicité de son entretien et de son comportement doux lorsqu'on la manipule.
