Le binturong, surnommé chat-ours, est une espèce de mammifère qui vit dans les forêts d'Asie du Sud et du Sud-Est. Il est doté d'un corps allongé et trapu, et de grosses pattes courtes. Il a une fourrure noire et raide, une tête brune et des oreilles rondes aux poils blancs. La femelle est environ 20 % plus grosse que le mâle. Le binturong mesure entre 71 et 91 cm, avec une queue de 56 à 91 cm. Le mâle pèse entre 9 et 20 kg, et la femelle entre 11 et 32 kg.
