La cucaracha rinoceronte (Macropanesthia rhinoceros) es un gran insecto que habita en los bosques secos y matorrales del norte de Australia. Miden aproximadamente 8 cm de largo, pesan unos 30 g y su color es marrón rojizo oscuro. Tienen el hábito de excavar madrigueras en el suelo arenoso que en ocasiones alcanzan el metro de profundidad. Son una mascota muy popular puesto que su cuidado es fácil y responden positivamente a la manipulación.
